Cameron Starr has coached Cross Country and Track & Field at Marvin Ridge High School since the school opened in the Fall of 2007. Throughout his career his men’s and women’s Cross Country and Track & Field teams have won a combined 18 Union County Championships, 19 Conference Championships, 9 Regional Championships, been State Runner-Up 4 times and won 1 State Championship.
Since 2007 the Marvin Ridge men’s and women’s cross country teams have continually finished at the top of the NCHSAA 3A State Rankings and produced 6 top 10 finishers at the State Championship meet, each earning All-State recognition. Under his guidance his track and field athletes have won 19 individual or relay State Championship titles and 16 of his former athletes have gone on to compete at the NCAA DI level.
Coach Starr has been named Conference Coach of the Year 15 times and was named the Charlotte Observer's Indoor Track Coach of the Year in 2009. Prior to coaching at Marvin Ridge, he served as head track and field coach at Weddington High School from 2004 to 2007 and at Kutztown High School in Pennsylvania from 1997-1999.
Coach Starr received his bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Kutztown University in Kutztown, Pennsylvania. While in college, he competed on Kutztown’s nationally ranked Cross Country and Track and Field Teams. Coach Starr currently teaches first grade at Rea View Elementary School and lives in Waxhaw with his wife Sarah, son Henry, and daughter Ellie.
